But even on a personal level, the next new shiny electronic toy, gaming console, laptop / desktop computer or packaged software is not in and of itself important. It is what is done with that innovation that truly drives us forward. Wi-fi to monitor irrigation levels in remote farm fields? Self-regulating power stations? Bio-friendly green architecture? All ideas and practices built on the back of engineering and technology, but not for technology's sake. There are clear benefits - to the general population, society and business.
